Our Tree

Luckily my boys decided to go to Hanover Pines on Friday after early dismissal from school. They got all the way back to Rt 1 near Green Top before they saw snow. Mason got it off of the car and into the house before it got completely covered. We enjoyed setting it up and working on it over our snow-filled weekend!

On Sunday afternoon Mason Jr and I were enjoying putting the ornaments on, when oh no, it started falling towards me. Daddy!!!
He asked if I wanted a photo of it laying on the floor. No thanks - I think I will remember that one!

How often has this happened?

"Snow" was our forecast for this afternoon/evening. And it happened.
We probably have about 4 inches by now and it is still coming!

Favorite speaker talks about creating balance with our family in this fast-paced world

I was excited Tuesday morning to attend a talk at my son's school - where my favorite parenting speaker was coaching us on the secrets to creating balance. As usual she was wonderful. I want to share her handout and suggestions.

Photos Photos Everywhere

Way to take on too many projects at once. I do this all the time to myself. I think, oh I can do this little project. Then I end up doing several photo projects at once and I get burnt out. I told Mason's aunt that I could scan a family album and burn the photos to cds. Then she brought me a second album, then more photos. I worked hard on it for a day and then added it to my list to do. And put it on the back burner for a week. Then last week I picked it up again. Then I got several other ideas of things to scan. Whew! Please let me finish one project before I start another!

Pepper, Pepper, Pepper

Our black lab "Pepper" has been not holding food down and vomiting off and on for the last week. We took her in last Friday and they did a first checkup then gave us some suggestions for treatment over the weekend. We took her in again on Monday because it had continued. They did bloodwork which was fine. Then the x-ray showed her intestines seemed kinked. We thought she had eaten something she wasn't supposed to - because she is known for that. Nope. Today they did surgery and found a tumor. They removed 3 inches of her stomach and hope they have gotten all the cancer. They will biopsy it and let us know next week.

A Picking We Will Go!

Mason went on his first kindergarten field trip this past week. It was to pick apples at Carter Mountain Apple Orchard. http://www.cartermountainorchard.com
He had a great time and couldn't wait to come home and eat the apples.

I am searching through my apple recipes for some fun things to fix this afternoon, after I make the grocery run for the week.

Camp E.D.G.E. at TUMC

Again Vacation Bible School was awesome this summer! The theme was Camp E.D.G.E. and we were on an adventure! Mason's favorite song on the CD that I made sure I got was "Let's go!"

Here are a few photos from our time in the Arts & Crafts room.

Too Much Sun!

Can't Believe My Birthday has come and gone!

We have had an awesome summer. Mason and I were just saying today that you can't say we didn't pack a lot of fun into this summer.

And thank goodness his little run-in with hot oil came late in August. He is banned from the boats and pools this weekend, but it will probably be a much needed break from sun.

Obviously I look forward to my August 24th birthday every year, but it means that summer is almost over too and that is difficult.

We are starting to get into our fall school week routine. Oh joy! I am having just as much difficulty getting to bed early and getting out of bed early as Mason Jr. I just hope I get used to it quickly!

We went to Kings Dominion today as a last time before school starts next Tuesday. It was fun, but hot. Seemed crowded when we got there, but after a while, we were able to ride the rides 2 and 3 times back to back. We took Mason's friend Freddy who hadn't been before. I think he liked it!
