A Picking We Will Go!

Mason went on his first kindergarten field trip this past week. It was to pick apples at Carter Mountain Apple Orchard. http://www.cartermountainorchard.com
He had a great time and couldn't wait to come home and eat the apples.

I am searching through my apple recipes for some fun things to fix this afternoon, after I make the grocery run for the week.

Camp E.D.G.E. at TUMC

Again Vacation Bible School was awesome this summer! The theme was Camp E.D.G.E. and we were on an adventure! Mason's favorite song on the CD that I made sure I got was "Let's go!"

Here are a few photos from our time in the Arts & Crafts room.

Swansboro Here We Come!

Too Much Sun!

Can't Believe My Birthday has come and gone!

We have had an awesome summer. Mason and I were just saying today that you can't say we didn't pack a lot of fun into this summer.

And thank goodness his little run-in with hot oil came late in August. He is banned from the boats and pools this weekend, but it will probably be a much needed break from sun.

Obviously I look forward to my August 24th birthday every year, but it means that summer is almost over too and that is difficult.

We are starting to get into our fall school week routine. Oh joy! I am having just as much difficulty getting to bed early and getting out of bed early as Mason Jr. I just hope I get used to it quickly!

We went to Kings Dominion today as a last time before school starts next Tuesday. It was fun, but hot. Seemed crowded when we got there, but after a while, we were able to ride the rides 2 and 3 times back to back. We took Mason's friend Freddy who hadn't been before. I think he liked it!

Couldn't Stay Away!

I couldn't stay away. Still not too much to say, but I missed having one place to find all of my friends and the blogs that I like to keep up with!

Summer Time is here!

Tourist Time

I have become a tourist in my own town. That is what I love about summer. Okay, one of the many things I love about summer.

We are back on the civil war kick - me and my gun-loving little boy. We drove through Fort Hoke and Fort Harrison - although we have to make the trek down there again because the visitor center's power was out and we couldn't see their exhibits.

Then we came back to Richmond and explored the American Civil War Center at Tredegar. Mason did the junior ranger quiz and won a badge. CHECK.

I think we will do the Museum of the Confederacy next.

My Life scam

One of my co-workers called me this afternoon to say that she and I had opened a computer virus via an email message. Oh great! I did get a message that had her name in the subject box and it was from a website that supposedly used to be reunion.com. I clicked on her name and it "added" me to her group. Which she said actually adds my yahoo email address along with all of the names in that address book. Great, just great. I am not sure if I have passed anything along to you by mistake. But I am sorry if I did. I went in and deleted my address book and was told to also change my yahoo passcode. Hope that helps!

Dark & Stormy Cake

My brother Jamie came to town this afternoon and we met over at Mom & Dad's and did an impromptu dinner for Mother's Day. Jamie stopped at a farmer's market in Tacoma Park and got some food to bring down. One of the items is an amazing cake called "Dark & Stormy." I am going to have to try and find a recipe - it listed the ingredients as ginger, lime, coffee, black pepper and molasses.

the movie ab India

I tried to watch "Slumdog Millionaire" tonight. We rented it and have been trying to get a night that both of us were home. He fell asleep, but I put it on anyway. I could only stomach watching some of it, before I felt sick. I might not be doing it justice, but I couldn't make myself watch more tonight.
